Privacy Policy App

Last updated: September 2026

1. Who is responsible

Verein Kinderstark, Sihlquai 131, 8005 Zurich, Switzerland, is responsible for processing personal data in the Tara & Pips Empowerment app. If you have questions about data protection or wish to exercise your rights, please write to info@verein-kinderstark.ch.

2. Scope

This privacy policy applies to the Tara & Pips Empowerment app for iOS and Android. Our websites have their own privacy policies.

We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP). Where users in the European Union are concerned, we also follow the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3. Our principles

The app is made for children aged four to nine and is set up and supervised by parents or carers. We therefore process as little data as possible. We do not sell personal data, we show no advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles of children.

4. User account

An account is required to use the app. When you create one, we collect your email address and the language you choose. The email address gives you access to your content and allows us to reply to you if needed. The language setting determines which language the stories are delivered in.

Accounts are created by parents or carers. We do not ask children themselves for any information.

5. Usage data and crash reports

We use the following services inside the app:

Firebase Analytics by Google. This service records how the app is used, for example which sections are opened and how long the app is used. We use this to improve the app.

Firebase Crashlytics by Google. This service automatically reports crashes to us, together with technical details about the device and the time of the crash. Without such reports we could not fix errors.

Both services are operated by Google. Google’s privacy terms apply in addition.

6. Subscription and payments

The subscription of 3 Swiss francs per month is handled entirely through the Apple App Store or Google Play. You enter your payment details there, not with us. We receive no credit card data.

To manage subscriptions we use the service RevenueCat. It processes the information whether a valid subscription exists and links it to your account. RevenueCat’s privacy terms apply in addition.

7. Where data is stored

The application runs on Amazon Web Services in the eu-central-1 data centre in Frankfurt, Germany. The database holding account data is located in the us-east-2 data centre in Ohio, United States.

8. Children

The app is intended for children under the age of thirteen. We do not ask children for more information than is necessary to use the app. Accounts are created and managed by parents or carers. Parents may at any time request information about the data stored for their account, have it corrected, or have it deleted.

9. Sharing with third parties

We share personal data only where necessary to operate the app, namely with Amazon Web Services for hosting, with Google for usage analysis and crash reports, with RevenueCat for subscription management, and with Apple and Google for app distribution and payment processing. Beyond this, we share data only where we are legally required to do so.

10. Transfers abroad

Part of the data is processed in the United States, in particular the account database and the services provided by Google and RevenueCat. These providers are contractually bound to protect the data there in line with Swiss and European standards, based on standard contractual clauses or the applicable transatlantic data transfer frameworks.

11. How long we keep data

Your account data remains stored for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, the associated data is removed immediately. Deletion is available directly in the app.

12. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss and misuse. Data is transmitted in encrypted form.

13. Your rights

You have the right to know whether and which personal data we process about you, and to have inaccurate data corrected or deleted, unless a legal retention obligation applies. You may object to processing and withdraw consent at any time. You may also request your data in a common electronic format.

A message to info@verein-kinderstark.ch is enough to exercise these rights.

If you believe we are not processing your data lawfully, you may contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. Users in the European Union may contact their competent data protection authority.

14. Legal bases

Where the GDPR applies, we base our processing on the performance of a contract for the account and subscription, on our legitimate interest in the secure and functioning operation of the app for crash reports, on your consent for usage analysis, and on compliance with legal obligations for accounting.

15. Changes

We may amend this privacy policy if the app or the legal requirements change. The version published on this page is the one that applies.
